To incorporate Trusted Data Platform into additional Google Workspace and Cloud applications and services.

Virtru Corp. expanded its longstanding partnership with Google Cloud to incorporate its Trusted Data Platform into additional Google Workspace and Google Cloud applications and services.

The combination will provide an added layer of verifiable trust, granular data control and privacy assurance for data shared, stored and analyzed in Google Cloud and Google Workspace, and, importantly, extending these control when data is shared outside the Google ecosystem.

In 2016, Virtru was chosen as a recommended encryption provider for G Suite, now Google Workspace, in what has been a successful partnership that boasts more than 3,500 shared customers with usage more than doubling since the beginning of the pandemic. This expanded partnership will accelerate Virtru integrations into Google Cloud services and deepen data control and sovereignty capabilities in Google Workspace.

Verizon’s mission is to transform how people connect with each other – our millions of customers, our 133,000 employees, and thousands of business partners. Embracing the cloud, and data protection, has been at the heart of this effort,” said Greg Sly, SVP platforms and infrastructure, Verizon Communications Inc.Encryption and control capabilities were central to our decision to adopt G Suite (now Google Workspace) to increase productivity, employee engagement, and collaboration. In today’s working environment, secure collaboration has never been more important, and capabilities like those Virtru provides will enable us to further accelerate adoption of cutting-edge cloud applications and infrastructure while maintaining best-in-class data security and control.

Virtru, together with Google Cloud will empower customers to accelerate and complete their digital transformation initiatives by:

  • Supporting the migration, storage and analysis of sensitive data in Google Cloud that otherwise would have remained on-premise
  • Satisfying data location and data sovereignty requirements
  • Complying with privacy regulations like ITAR, HIPAA, CJIS, CMMC, GDPR
  • Augmenting Google Workspace’s native security controls, Virtru offers end-to-end encryption and flexible key management options for Google Workspace (Gmail and Google Drive ), as well as an extensible developer platform that powers integration into custom applications and workflows across cloud ecosystems.

From Day One, Virtru’s mission has been to unlock the power of data by creating a world where it is always under your control. Everywhere,” said co-founder and CEO John Ackerly. “Our longstanding partnership with Google Cloud has been vital to enabling thousands of companies, government agencies and millions of individuals to take control of their data, while benefiting from the productivity and ease of use of Google Workspace and the Google Cloud. Usage of our Google Workspace integrations has more than doubled since the beginning of the pandemic, and this announcement marks an important milestone as we expand access to our platform and developer tools globally.

We’re proud to partner with Virtru to expand the security, privacy, and governance capabilities that enterprises need as they adopt Google Workspace at global scale,” said Jose Pastor, VP, product management, Google Cloud. “For many, work is transforming in unprecedented ways, and organizations need to help keep people and teams connected from anywhere. We’re committed to providing customers with the technology, services, and partnerships that they need to enable distributed and remote work, and look forward to working with Virtru to help them do so in a secure, trusted way.
