Portworx Enterprise Storage Platform for IBM Cloud Pak and Cloud Kubernetes Service
For HA and high-performance storage
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 26, 2020 at 2:27 pmIBM Corp. has partnered with Portworx, Inc. to offer the Portworx Storage Platform, a solution that helps development teams spend less time on storage and data management and more time driving innovation.
Portworx container-native storage solution provides following capabilities for stateful workloads:
- Container-granular volumes that give you the capability to provision volumes as small as 1GB and dynamically expand to large multi-terabyte volumes as your workload needs grow, all without application disruption
DR, including zero RPO across data centers - Point-and-click backup and recovery of applications at the click of a button
- Declaratively specify the I/O profile of your application by leveraging one of the application-aware storage classes that are predefined by Portworx
- Block and shared volume support
- Globally namespaced volumes that support availability of volumes across a multizone Kubernetes or Red Hat OpenShift cluster
- Replicated and synchronous volume support
- Volume encryption via IBM Key Protect and other key management systems
- Local volume snapshots and volume snapshots in IBM Cloud Object Storage
- Role-based access control
- Application crash-consistent (multicontainer) snapshots
- Support for hyperconverged and storage-rich deployment topologies
- Capability to perform multicluster and multicloud application migrations for Kubernetes resources and data
Although enterprise adoption of container orchestration technologies is increasing, operating high-performance, highly available, and automated data services on Kubernetes has been a challenge for enterprises. Enterprises typically have opted either for the HA provided by traditional enterprise storage systems, while sacrificing container-granular capabilities and performance, or for local storage, which is fast but difficult to automate.
With Portworx, enterprises no longer have to settle for one or the other. Instead, they can automate data management for the entire application lifecycle while gaining performance and agility.
