HighPoint 8-Channel U.2 and M.2 High Port Count Series RAID Controllers
$649 for SSD7180 - 8x PCIe 3.0 x4 SFF-8643 ports, and SSD7184 - 4x PCIe 3.0 x4 SFF-8643 ad 4x PCIe 3.0 SFF-8644
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 19, 2020 at 2:13 pmHighPoint Technologies, Inc. has once again initiated a paradigm shift for high-speed storage applications with the launch of their 8-channel U.2 and M.2 High Port Count (HPC) series RAID controllers.
SSD7180
HPC SSD718x Series NVMe RAID controllers enable professional system integrators to overcome the inherit capacity limitations of M.2 drives while maximizing the write-performance of PCIe Gen 3 U.2 media. HPC series NVMe RAID controllers are platform independent, and do not require a hardware environment with Bifurcation support or any specialized 3rd party RAID software such as AMD RAID Expert, Intel VROC or OS-based RAID.
SSD7184
Over 120TB @ 14,000 MB/s
High port count NVMe RAID controllers are for professional applications that require a small-footprint, mass-storage solution that can take advantage of PCIe 3.0 x16 host interface transfer bandwidth. This performance-focused NVMe RAID architecture ensures that up to x4 lanes can be assigned to each device channel to ensure maximum transfer throughput – for professional media workstation and server environments designed to satisfy performance-hungry applications, such as high-resolution media and 100GbE packet capture or recording servers, which demand transfer performance in excess of 10GB/s.
HPC U.2 NVMe controllers raise the performance bar for PCIe Gen 3 NVMe storage devices; applications can now saturate the available bus-bandwidth and deliver sustained write performance over 14,000MB/s, while simultaneously supporting up to 120TB of storage.
Massive storage capacity
Each high port count RAID controller features 8 independent M.2 or U.2 channels, and can support from 16 up to 120TB of RAID and non-RAID NVMe storage. No other NVMe controllers can match the massive storage capability, blazing fast transfer rates or flexibility in such a compact package.
RAID storage solution
-
RAID-1/0 (security and speed) – RAID-1/0 (also known as RAID-10) requires a minimum of four NVMe SSD’s – it will mirror the data of one stripe array to a second, hidden stripe array for security.
-
RAID-0 (speed) – this mode delivers maximum performance, and requires a minimum of 2 NVMe SSD’s.
-
RAID-1 (security) – This mode creates a hidden duplicate of the target SSD, and requires 2 NVMe SSD’s to configure.
Flexible, modular cooling solution
The SSD7180 and SSD7184 employ company’s multi-stage cooling solution that combines an anodized aluminum heatsink with a built-in low noise fan. This design ensures the NVMe chipset and RAID componentry remain cool under heavy load while minimizing the risk of distraction in the work environment.
NVMe RAID management
When it comes to maintaining critical storage configurations, each customer has specific needs and preferences.
The Web RAID Management Interface is a web-based management tool and is for customers who are new to RAID technology.
The CLI (command line interface) is a text-only management interface designed for advanced users and professional administrators. Comprehensive user guides are available for both interfaces are available from each controller’s Software Updates webpage.
Both interfaces were designed to streamline NVMe storage management. customers can track TBW (Terabytes Written) and the temperature of each individual NVMe SSD, ensure the SSD7000 controller is using a fastest available PCIe slot, configure an event log with email notification, and monitor the status of critical RAID configurations in person or remotely via an Internet connection.
HPC Series NVMe RAID Controllers will be available in August 2020, from our North American retail and distribution channels.
