IBM Spectrum Protect 8.1.10 and Plus 10.1.6

IBM Spectrum Protect 8.1.10 and IBM Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.6 deliver support for hybrid multicloud environments, and IBM Spectrum Copy Data Management is available for ordering with IBM flashSystem storage

IBM Spectrum Protect 8.1.10 and Spectrum Protect Plus 10.1.6 deliver support for hybrid multicloud environments with capabilities for Amazon Web Services (AWS) Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2) Elastic Block Store (EBS) snapshots, expanded container support, and file system protection in Windows environments.

They deliver the following new capabilities:

• Protect Amazon cloud-based workload EC2 instances using EBS snapshots
• Lower costs and gain air gap protection by utilizing tape for long-term data retention using retention set copy to tape
• Optimized cloud DR by utilizing object storage for protection of the Spectrum Protect database
  Intelligent management for protection of persistent volumes in a Kubernetes environment by using the Spectrum Protect Plus user interface
• Protect file system data through agentless data protection of Windows physical and VMs
• Dashboard view of Spectrum Protect Plus operations through the Spectrum Protect Operations Center
• Improved job monitoring in Spectrum Protect Plus with VM and database-level backup progress indicators
• Support for Oracle databases running on Automatic Storage Management Cluster File System (ACFS)
• Enhanced SAP HANA RPOs and RTOs for unplanned outages through data and log snapshots

Spectrum Copy Data Management
It makes copies available to data consumers when and where they need them, without creating unnecessary copies or leaving unused copies on valuable storage. It catalogs copy data from across your local and hybrid cloud and off-site cloud infrastructure, identifies duplicates, and compares copy requests to existing copies.

Spectrum Copy Data Management Starter Edition, which is part of the Spectrum Protect portfolio, is now available to be ordered along with IBM FlashSystem storage. This provides clients with the flexibility to experience Copy Data Management with more affordable pricing.
