Liqid, Inc. worked with AMD (Advanced Micro Devices, Inc.) and Dell Technologies OEM|embedded and edge solutions to deliver a fast one-socket storage rack servers.

The company’s composable Gen-4 PCIe fabric technology, the Element LQD4500, is coupled with the AMD EPYC 7002 Series processors, and enclosed in Dell EMC PowerEdge R7515 rack server to deliver an architecture designed for the demanding next-gen, AI-driven HPC application environments.

The company published the performance results in a white paper.

The optimized platform from Liqid, Dell, and AMD empowers users to deploy server systems with high compute and storage performance for core data centers as workflows and business needs constantly scale.

The combined elements feature:

• PowerEdge R7515 server rack is a single-socket 2U server designed to handle workloads like SDS, virtualization, and data analytics;

• AMD EPYC 7002 Series processors brings together up to 64 cores, 4TB memory capacity, support for 8 channels of DDR4-3200 memory, and 128 lanes of PCIe Gen 4.0 I/O per socket;

• Element LQD4500 PCIe Add-In-Card (AIC), is full-height-3/4-length (FH3/4L) NVMe storage solution, with up to 30.8TB capacity and performance for mission critical and performance-demanding workloads delivering over 24GB/s and 3 million IO/s.

LQD4500 SSD performance test results on Dell R7515 with AMD EPYC 7002:

• Random read (4KB): 3.1 million IO/s

• Random write (4KB): 961,000 IO/s

• Sequential read (128KB): 24.5GB/s

• Sequential write (128KB): 10.1GB/s

The Element LQD4500’s design enables multiple drive configurations ranging from maximum performance to maximum redundancy. It also features enterprise power failure protection for increased reliability to prevent data loss and ensure uninterrupted work in case of power failure.
