This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 9, 2020 at 2:27 pmQnap Systems, Inc. released the QTS 4.4.2 NAS OS.
Featuring improvements and enhancements from the previous version, QTS 4.4.2 also enhances system security and storage scalability. The default password of the NAS has been changed to the first MAC address of the NAS for greater NAS security. It also supports the company’s new expansion units – the high-speed TL SATA JBOD series that supports multi-lane 6G SATA transfer, and the TL USB JBOD series with USB 3.2 Gen 2 10Gb/s connectivity. While QTS 4.4.1 focused on cloud storage integration and cloud gateway services, QTS 4.4.2 strengthens storage expandability with physical JBOD units for satisfying file storage and backup needs. The TL SATA JBOD and TL USB JBOD series work with the company’s NAS, and also support computers and servers with the firm’s JBOD Manager companion utility.
TL SATA JBOD Series
TL-D800S
TL-R1200S-RP
The TL SATA JBOD series includes models with tower (4-bay TL-D400S, 8-bay TL-D800S, 16-bay TL-D1600S) and rackmount (4-bay TL-R400S, 12-bay TL-R1200S-RP) form factors that support multi-lane 6Gb SATA transfer. The SATA JBOD series is designed with each SATA lane directly connected to individual SATA drives, enhancing the expansion unit performance to provide a speed and economical storage expansion solution. The JBOD series is ready for use with bundled QXP expansion cards and cables. The QXP expansion card can be installed into the PCIe slot of a company’s NAS or Windows/Linux (Ubuntu) PC to add multiple 6Gb SATA connectivity, and a single SFF-8088 cable provides up to 24Gb (4x6Gb SATA) transfer speed. Transfer speeds between the host and JBOD can be driven up to 64Gb/s when using multiple cables.
