Starline Computer Adds Optical Cables for Areca Products
In Thunderbolt 3, bridging up to 50 meters with 40Gb/s, €390 to €630 (5 to 50 meters)
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on March 5, 2020 at 2:48 pmStarline Computer GmbH has added the brand optical cables from partner Areca Technology Corp. to its product range.
This is nothing less than a small revolution in the SMB sector. With the inexpensive optical cables, an entire agency, media office or practice could be networked at high speed. The company has also a variety of products and solution in this segment.
Until now, the company has only been able to offer its customers cables with a maximum length of 2 meters. In the new optical variants, the value-added distributor can offer assembled lengths of 5, 10, 20, 30 and 50 meters.
ARC-8050T3 SAN
The possible expansion stages are obvious: With the Thunderbolt ARC-8050T3 SAN from Areca with its up to 9 ports, for example, entire floors or open-plan offices can be supplied with 40Gb/s. With 24 drive drawers with a total capacity of up to 384TB and the option to dock an additional 488 drives via JBODs, new fields of activity are opened up for workgroups.
In addition, they would not require any additional infrastructure such as switches and network sockets. A storage system could also be moved to another room for reasons of volume.
Other constellations are also conceivable. The company, for example, also has bridges in its product range with which the Thunderbolt protocol can also be implemented on SAS or FC.
Longer cables – new possibilities
The firm offers a range of Thunderbolt 3 systems. The high speed and simple operation recommend these solutions wherever individual workstations have a high data volume, such as A/V editing suites. They can be daisy-chained in series and even connect monitors in 4K. The format is also compatible with the 10Gb/s USB version.
All cable variants are available. Prices range from €390 to €630 (5 to 50 meters).
