Supporting up to 24 2.5-inch NVMe SSDs
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on February 20, 2020 at 2:23 pmIBM FlashSystem 5100 models deliver improved performance with NVMe-based storage
IBM FlashSystem 510, formerly Storwize V5100, is a virtualized, software-defined storage system designed to consolidate workloads into a single storage system for ease of management, reduced costs, highly scalable capacity, high performance and availability. FlashSystem 5100 models 4H4 and UHB deliver improved latency and performance with the implementation of NVMe technology.
FlashSystem 5100 is an all-flash storage system that is also available in a hybrid flash configuration. These offerings will be differentiated at the time of purchase by selecting a corresponding feature code for either an all-flash or hybrid configuration.
FlashSystem 5100 small form factor (SFF) control enclosure models 4H4 and UHB feature:
- 2 node canisters, each with an 8-core processor and integrated hardware-assisted compression acceleration
- 64GB cache (32GB per canister) standard with options from 192GB to 576GB (per system)
- 8 10GbE ports for iSCSI connectivity
- 16 or 32Gb FC connectivity options with FC-NVMe support
- 25GbE connectivity options with iSCSI and iSER (RoCe V2 and iWARP) support
- Support for up to 24 2.5-inch NVMe flash drives
- 2U, 19-inch rack mount enclosure
Attachment and intermixing of existing Storwize V5100 expansion enclosure models 12F, 24F, AFF, A9F, and 92F is supported with FlashSystem 5100 models 4H4 and UHB.
FlashSystem 5100 systems scale up to 760 drives with the attachment of FlashSystem 5100 expansions.
They can be clustered to help deliver greater performance, bandwidth, and scalability. A clustered system can contain up to 2 FlashSystem 5100 systems and up to 1,520 drives. A FlashSystem 5100 can be clustered with a Storwize V5100 system.
All FlashSystem 5100 functional capabilities are provided through IBM Spectrum Virtualize Software.
