FlashSystem 5000 features 2 node canisters in a 2U 19-inch rackmount enclosure.
Four models are available to deliver a range of performance, scalability, and functional capabilities.
They are available in the following models:
Control enclosures:
- FlashSystem 5030 SFF Dual Control Enclosure
- FlashSystem 5030 LFF Dual Control Enclosure
- FlashSystem 5010 SFF Dual Control Enclosure
- FlashSystem 5010 LFF Dual Control Enclosure
Expansion enclosures:
- FlashSystem 5000 SFF Expansion Enclosure
- FlashSystem 5000 LFF Expansion Enclosure
- FlashSystem 5000 High Density LFF Expansion Enclosure
FlashSystem 5030 control enclosure models
offer high level of performance, scalability, and functionality:
- Two 6-core processors and up to 64GB of cache
- Support for 504 drives per system with the attachment of 8 FlashSystem 5000 High Density LFF expansion enclosures and 1,008 drives with a two-way clustered configuration
- Data reduction pools with deduplication, compression, and thin provisioning for improved storage efficiency
- Encryption of data at rest stored within the FlashSystem 5030 system
FlashSystem 5010 control enclosure models
offer entry-level performance, scalability, and functionality:
- Two 2-core processors and up to 64GB of cache
- Support for 392 drives per system with the attachment of 4 FlashSystem 5000 High Density LFF expansion enclosures
- Data reduction pools with thin provisioning for improved storage efficiency
All FlashSystem 5000 models include:
- A 2U, 19-inch rackmount enclosure with either AC or DC power
- Dual-active intelligent array node canisters
- 12 3.5-inch LFF or 24 2.5-inch SFF drive slots within the enclosure
- Support for the attachment of FlashSystem 5000 12Gb SAS expansion enclosures
- I/O connectivity options for 16Gb FC, 12GbB SAS, 10GbE iSCSI, or 25GbE iSCSI
- Web-based GUI for easy system setup and management
- Virtualization of internal storage for rapid, flexible provisioning and simple configuration changes
- RAID levels 0, 1, 5, 6, 10 with distributed RAID-5 and -6
- Support for optional licensed features, including thin provisioning, Easy Tier, FlashCopy, and remote mirroring
- IBM System Storage Easy Tier for automatic migration of frequently accessed data from HDDs to high performing SSDs
- FlashCopy for creating copies of data for backup or application testing
- Remote mirroring for data replication between systems at different locations through Metro Mirror and
- Global Mirror functions
- Interoperability support with support for most major server platforms and OSs
- One-way data migration to move data onto a FlashSystem 5000 system
The three FlashSystem 5000 expansion enclosure models are 12G, 24G, and 92G. Model 12G (LFF) supports up to 12 3.5-inch drives, while model 24G (SFF) supports up to 24 2.5-inch drives. The 92G holds 92 3.5-inch SAS. High-performance HDDs, high-capacity nearline HDDs, and SSDs are supported. Drives of the same form factor can be intermixed within an enclosure, and LFF and SFF expansion enclosures can be intermixed within a FlashSystem 5000 system.
All FlashSystem 5000 functional capabilities are provided through Spectrum Virtualize Licensed Machine Code.
Key requirements: FlashSystem 5000 requires Spectrum Virtualize licensed machine code level 8.2.1, or later.
