Gigabyte Aorus RAID SSD 2TB With PCIe 3.0 Performance
Delivering 6.2GB/s R/W speeds
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 31, 2020 at 2:23 pmGIGABYTE TECHNOLOGY Co. Ltd launched the AORUS RAID SSD 2TB AIC expansion card which delivers up to 6.2GB/s R/W speeds through the PCIe 3.0 x8 interface.
With a RAID controller and 4 built-in 512GB NVMe M.2 SSDs, it outperforms traditional PCIe 3.0 NVMe SSDs by over 1.8x and also supports the OS installation functions, providing a fast storage performance on PCIe 3.0 platforms.
AORUS RAID SSD 2TB features a single-slot, thin design which gives the user adequate clearance to work with, large internal cooling fins, a dual-sided thermal pad, M.2 base plate, and an active cooling design. Using the AORUS Storage Manager, users can access information on their SSD statuses/configuration to maximize performance and disk reliability.
At COMPUTEX 2019, AMD announced that its new X570 Platform was capable of delivering 5GBps R/W speeds as it brought forth the PCIe 4.0 era.
However, Intel Corp. has yet to release hardware that is compatible with PCIe 4.0 so many users are unsure of whether to upgrade their systems to support PCIe 4.0. AORUS RAID SSD 2TB comes with pre-configured RAID-0 and 2TB capacity, offering users a storage solution upgrade that bolsters their R/W speeds without upgrading their system and buying additional NVMe SSDs to build their preference of disk arrays. It can be installed on Intel X299, Z390 and AMD TRX40, X570 motherboards using the PCIe 3.0 or PCIe 4.0 x8 slot and users can extract 1.8x better performance compared to other PCIe 3.0 devices, even surpassing the R/W performance of PCIe 4.0 devices.
“Since higher R/W speeds on storage devices and better reliability enhance overall system performance, users often think of PCIe 4.0 as the way to go when it comes to upgrading their storage performance. However, support for PCIe 4.0 is currently only available on newer AMD platforms. There are many users without the latest AMD platforms who are looking to upgrade their storage performance without having to switch platforms so this is where the AORUS RAID SSD 2TB comes into play,” said Jackson Hsu, director, product development division. “Following the release of our highly-acclaimed 8TB AIC SSD, we are introducing our AORUS RAID SSD 2TB RAID Card with a built-in RAID controller. As soon as users install their OS, they can enjoy 6.2GB/s R/W speeds which even surpasses PCIe 4.0 R/W performance. AORUS RAID SSD 2TB is superior in pricing compared to PCIe 4.0 devices with the same capacity, which really gives users the best balance between cost and performance.”
AORUS RAID SSD 2TB features a sleek, single slot design which provides ample clearance for the user to install other PCIe ready devices, offering greater expansion capability. The RAID card sports a high quality, hairline metal plate, a black, hairline cooling backplate, and a dual ball bearing active cooling fan to maximize heat dissipation while showcasing the impressive AORUS style. The interior design also bolsters heat dissipation with its large cooling fans, dual-sided cooling pads, and M.2 heatsinks, which work together to dissipate heat, which is then cleared away from the card by the 5cm dual-ball bearing fans to keep the SSD running nice and cool during operation to maximize performance.
AORUS RAID SSD 2TB has a built in RAID controller for users to configure enterprise hardware RAID with OS Installable Support and switch from a RAID-0 configuration to RAID-1 or RAID-10 to adjust the best balance between performance and data reliability and not worry about damaging the disk array from motherboard failure.
It comes with 9 temperature sensors so users have access to the temperature data on all four M.2 SSDs via the AORUS Storage Manager. They can also find the right balance between fan noise and cooling by adjusting the fan speeds with the triple-stage dynamic speed control function.
As a PCIe 3.0 x8 RAID card that supports Intel X299, Z390 and AMD TRX40, X570 platforms and is compatible with PCIe 3.0 and 4.0 interfaces, AORUS RAID SSD 2TB is a solution for bolstering performance on a range of user configurations. When paired with GIGABYTE motherboards, as tested by firm’s engineers, it offers stable and efficiency performance.
