From OakGate Technology, 3U 12-Bay EDSFF Enclosures for EDSFF 1U Long and Short NVMe SSDs

OakGate Technology, Inc. announced  its E-Series 12-Bay EDSFF Enclosures for the emerging EDSFF form factor designed to deliver performance and storage density required by enterprise data center customers.

The company has been shipping its E-Series U.2 enclosures for the U.2/SFF-8639 form factor SSDs, supporting all protocols (such as NVMe, SAS, and SATA), for over a year. With the addition of the 12-Bay EDSFF Enclosures, enterprise data center customers will have scalability, manageability, and serviceability made possible by a design packaged in an integrated enclosure. Available in 1U long and short form factors, these enclosures provide high-capacity solutions per drive, per server, and per rack.

“OakGate has pioneered the industry’s most advanced SSD test solutions over the past decade and our 12-Bay EDSFF Enclosures continue this trend,” stated Bob Weisickle, founder,and strategy and technology officer, OakGate. “We worked closely with our key customers to develop a space and power-efficient solution for the emerging EDSFF form factor so that our data center customers can scale the number of devices in high-density environments,” added Mr. Weisickle.

When connected to an the company’s test appliance (such as the expandable desktop appliance or 3U rackmount appliance), the 12-bay EDSFF Enclosure tests up to 12 EDSFF 1U single-port or dual-port NVMe SSDs.

This 3U rackmountable, PCIe EDSFF enclosure is available in four types:

For EDSFF 1U Long NVMe SSDs:

• OGT-EDL12P-01: Single-port

• OGT-EDL12P-02: Dual-port

For EDSFF 1U Short NVMe SSDs:

• OGT-EDS12P-01: Single-port

• OGT-EDS12P-02: Dual-port

The EDSFF 1U Long enclosures conform to SFF-TA-1007 – Specification for Enterprise and Datacenter 1U Long SSD Form Factor (E1.L Rev1.1).

The EDSFF 1U Short enclosures conform to SFF-TA-1006 – Specification for Enterprise and Datacenter 1U Short SSD Form Factor (E1.S Rev1.1). OakGate intends to support future revisions of the specs including the recently ratified E1.S Rev 1.2.
