Excelero Expands NVMesh Offering to Lenovo ThinkSystem Portfolio
Combination delivers scale-out shared NVMe storage for any network, application or protection level.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 12, 2019 at 2:11 pmExcelero Ltd, in software-defined block storage, announced a collaboration with Lenovo Data Center Group to provide its NVMesh software-defined block storage solutions to Lenovo customers and channel partners worldwide.
The collaboration will make it easier for organisations to benefit from NVMe flash storage’s superior throughput and efficiency at web-scale and at any scale.
Already proven in Lenovo deployments at SciNet, Canada’s largest HPC facility, and at a London, UK-based machine learning firm, NVMesh provides a choice for web-scale deployments and in big data uses in concert with Lenovo’s ThinkSystem portfolio, rated #1 in customer satisfaction and reliability according to ITIC, leading 140 industry benchmarks as of April 2, 2019.
The offering also benefits mainstream data centre storage applications, since latest NVMesh2 solution supports TCP/IP and FC, and offers flexible protection levels and customised management controls. As NVMe flash nears price parity with traditional flash, the two partners enable a wider range of organisations to achieve heightened storage capacity, flexibility and scale-out support without changing networking protocols or storage fabrics.
“Lenovo’s ThinkSystem portfolio is ideal for Excelero deployments – it’s a high-quality solution that balances high IO/s, low latency, high performance, and cost-efficiency,” said John Majeski, GM of software and solutions, Lenovo Data Center Group. “We are delighted to expand our work with Excelero to enable Lenovo’s global channel organisation to help customers leverage Lenovo’s high-quality solutions in concert with Excelero’s innovative NVMesh software.“
“Lenovo has been making savvy moves in the storage arena for quite some time, and formalising its work with Excelero is yet another one,” said George Crump, president and founder of industry analyst firm Storage Switzerland, LLC. “Both companies’ offerings are well suited to serve the high-performance community, as well as to broaden NVMe’s appeal to more traditional applications.“
NVMesh enables shared NVMe across any network and supports any local or distributed file system. Customers benefit from the performance of local flash with the convenience of centralised storage while reducing the overall storage TCO.
“We are seeing increased demand in the market for highly efficient, agile storage – not only for in high-performance-computing but also for web-scale companies and for mainstream applications. With Lenovo as our partner, Excelero’s NVMesh2 is well positioned to capture it,” said Patrick Guay, VP of strategic accounts, Excelero. “We’re extremely proud to be the first shared NVMe storage software chosen by Lenovo, and look forward to expanding our business together.“
