Archival Gateway Software From PoINT Software & Systems

The PoINT Archival Gateway, a new software solution from PoINT Software & Systems GmbH, combines performance, scalability and HA of data.

It receives data via an S3 interface which it then archives on storage systems such as tape or optical libraries. Integrated erasure coding ensures that data is distributed redundantly, improving the system’s reliability and performance.

The PoINT Archival Gateway will be available in 2Q19.

It can write and read over one petabyte of data per day. This performance makes the software for applications wherever large volumes of data are stored. The software’s S3 interfaces also mean that businesses can integrate cloud-ready applications without having to make any adaptations to it.

The PoINT Archival Gateway’s S3 HTTP service supports thousands of parallel client
connections, enabling maximum throughput rates. A comprehensible administrative interfacemakes configuration intuitive and provides a quick overview of the system’s capacity, object count and performance at all times.

WORM functionality and integrated retention management ensure that data is protected against manipulation or unintended deletion, making it easy for businesses to meet their compliance obligations. Users can also implement a 3-2-1 backup strategy without any extra work, as the software supports tape and optical storage media so that offline storage is also as easy as can be.
