French start-up offering personal cloud storage appliance
By Jean Jacques Maleval | February 14, 2019 at 2:24 pmStarting from March 1st, 2019, the network infrastructure of Lima Technology, a ‘société par actions simplifiée’, in Ville d’Avray, France, will shut down, unable to raise money.
The start-up, born in 2013 and headed by founder and CEO Séverin Marcombes, raised $3.7 million in two rounds in 2013 and 2014 – the last one being $2.5 million from Partech Ventures, and was offering a low-cost personal cloud storage appliance (€99) able to transform any external HDD in a small NAS for backing up without cloud, was delivered to 80,000 users.
“If you’re a Lima user, we strongly recommend you to stop using Lima and export your data“, wrote the company on its web site.
In 2017 the company records revenue of €17 million, according to societe.com.
