IBM FlashSystem A9000/A9000R Software V12.3.1
With capacity management for de-dupe
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on January 28, 2019 at 2:14 pmIBM FlashSystem A9000/A9000R software version 12.3.1 introduces intelligent capacity management for deduplication, providing high-precision estimates for:
- Capacity optimization using reported reclaimable capacity, per volume
- Capacity chargeback using the attributable fare-share capacity, per volume
FlashSystem A9000 (model 425)
Complementing the recent release of software version 12.3 that introduced the lowest new entry point configuration of A9000R using a single flash enclosure, version 12.3.1 supports scale out with that configuration. Existing and new customers using this configuration will be able to non disruptively add flash enclosures and grid controllers to scale out system capacity and performance.
Key requirements
- FlashSystem A9000/A9000R software V12 (5639-FS1) requires a FlashSystem A9000R (9835-415, 9835-425, 9837-415, 9837-425, or 9837-U25) or FlashSystem A9000 (9836-415, 9836-425, 9838-415, 9838-425, or 9838-U25) storage system. It is preinstalled on, and shipped with, these systems.
- The intelligent capacity management enhancements for deduplication requires IBM Hyper-Scale Manager version 5.5.1, or later, with incrementally larger memory for the hosting VM or the physical host.
Planned availability date: February 15, 2019
