This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on October 3, 2017 at 2:19 pmCloudLanes, a Microsoft Ventures and Cervin Ventures portfolio company, announced the integration of it’s Cloud Data Platform (CDP) with Microsoft Azure Data Box to help enterprise customers move large scale data to Microsoft Azure in a seamless, safe and secure manner.
Ray Rodriguez from San Diego State University (SDSU) has been looking forward to solving the challenge of moving large volumes of video files to the cloud in a cost effective manner by leveraging the CDP and offline ingest using Azure Data Box.
“While CloudLanes CDP provides us super-fast ingest to Microsoft Azure, we still were looking for a way to move our offline videos to the cloud via a bulk transport mechanism. This integration allows us to achieve this objective,” he said.
Asif Moinuddin, CEO, CloudLanes, said: “There is a need for a solution that seamlessly combines online cloud migration with offline bulk move of data to the cloud. At SDSU, our cloud-native solution will deliver a seamless online as well as offline ingest of data and media to public cloud. Data views will be combined and this will be a seamless experience for the customers.”
Vijay Ramaswamy, VP of biz devt and solution sale, CloudLanes, said: “CloudLanes has cloud native hooks and secure integration with Microsoft Azure, which helps make the Azure Data Box solution seamless for customers. Add to that our added capabilities of chain of custody, data verification and immediate leverage of cloud native tools, customers will be able to ascertain which part of the data was moved via the online network and which part of the data set was merged via Azure Data Box.”
This provides auditability to ascertain authenticity of data. The customers will able to use Azure Search to search the data and use additional tools and software in Azure suitable for the dataset immediately and on demand.
Dean Paron, director, Azure Data Box, Microsoft Corp., said: “Customers in the oil & gas, and media & entertainment segments deal with large scale data that benefit from offline movement to Microsoft Azure. By integrating with Azure Data Box, CloudLanes CDP helps our mutual customers accelerate data ingest to the cloud.“
CDP works with leading backup software, video data and systems, file servers, on-premise object stores, and with select smart devices.
