For secure storage and cloud services

Markley Group, LLC announced that it has added another New England data center facility, located in Lowell, MA.

The company purchased a 350,000 square foot building and has begun the conversion of the facility into a master-planned 50 megawatt mission-critical data center facility to meet the growing bandwidth, storage and cloud needs of businesses in New England and across the country. Phase One of the data center space will be available to customers October 1, 2015.

Markley believes that this strategic acquisition will complement the outstanding growth that it has seen at its One Summer Street, Boston location. Many existing customers in the Boston facility have expressed interest in a suburban mission-critical facility that will help them with DR initiatives. With latency of less than one millisecond, which allows for synchronous replication, the Lowell location is for most DR plans. Having a suburban mission-critical facility with the Markley Group brand and Markley Group’s commitment to quality has attracted both existing and new clientele. The Lowell location will also provide an option to technology businesses located along Routes 128 and 495.

Among the features, the building, which sits on 14 acres of land, offers three stories of space, 600 pounds per square foot of floor load and 18 foot ceilings. The facility also delivers a large amount of on-site power, which will help support the full build out of the 50MW offering. With diverse dark fiber networks from the Lowell site to One Summer Street already in place, customers will have direct access to the 80 network providers located at One Summer Street in addition to providers with an on-site presence in Lowell.

The facility will also feature one thousand DR hot seats that allow companies secure workspace with network access and backup systems for use in an emergency. With the combined capabilities of Markley Group’s existing One Summer Street location and the new Lowell facility, customers will have access to flexible, top-of-the-line resources and services to grow and expand as their business needs evolve.

In keeping with our philosophy of best-in-class offerings, the Lowell facility will be a world-class facility,” said Jeffrey D. Markley, CEO, Markley Group. “With One Summer Street being the center of the universe for network connectivity in the region, our diverse dark fiber pathways to Lowell will extend those advantages to clients of the facility.

Markley Group is currently working with city and state officials, as well as representatives from University of Massachusetts, Lowell to seek opportunities for local talent to be employed in this new technology center.

The Lowell building adds to Markley Group’s already impressive data center offerings in New England and complements the company’s One Summer Street location, which is the largest and longest operating multi-tenant, mission-critical telecommunications and data center facility in the region. Markley Group also owns and operates a nationwide cloud platform, which support the company’s elastic, on-demand IaaS cloud offerings.
