Interlock Technology Achieves New Archive Data Migration Speed
14TB per day from EMC Centera
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on June 26, 2015 at 1:57 pmInterlock Technology, Inc. has attained a data migration speed record of 14TB per day – the fastest rate that EMC Centera can support for data migration.
This speed was attained during a live customer migration and is more than double the standard migration speed of 3/6TB per day. It was attained using company’s Xspedient technology, which ensures that even at this high transfer rate, there is zero impact on the customer’s business applications or users during the migration.
While migration speed varies with different hardware and applications, part of the reason that Interlock can attain these speeds is because its proprietary technology bypasses the application layer and migrates the data directly to the new storage platform. This technology enables Interlock to complete the largest migrations, containing billions of files, in a few months, while other competitors require around 18 months for the same migration.
“We are very excited about this speed breakthrough,” stated Gary Lieberman, co-founder and CEO, Interlock Technology, “While this represents ideal conditions, it shows the strength of our technology. We are data migration experts and we built our technology, services and reports specifically for fast, safe and transparent archive data migrations.“Our technology enables us to support the largest number of applications and work with a broad array of storage providers, including NetApp, Hitachi, EMC and many others. This is significant because a number of companies only work with select storage solutions or vendors. Regardless of the platform, our technology is producing the fastest and most reliable migration results.“
“We are thrilled with this development,” said Michael Cavers, EVP, global sales and alliances. “The 14TB per day transfer rate was achieved at a live customer migration using a single instance of our technology. This is not an aggregate speed attained by running multiple instances simultaneously. Since our technology was built to handle high volume data migrations, Interlock never needs to run multiple instances of our technology unless a customer is migrating billions of files.“
Interlock Technology offers Centera archive data migrations and has expertise that enables it to handle the challenging migrations. With its storage agnostic technology, Interlock can migrate data to and from any storage provider that a client selects. In addition, the company offers transparency during the migration, with pre-migration assessments and post-migrations reports. This ensures that there is an audit trail and preserves chain-of-custody, for legal and regulatory compliance.
