Car Parts Manufacturer International Automotive Components Deploys Storage Solution
Delivered by Proact
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on November 19, 2014 at 2:27 pmProact IT Group AB is supplying a new IT infrastructure to car parts manufacturer International Automotive Components Group (IAC).
This solution involves a new storage environment and backup solution, giving IAC the system access and flexibility demanded by their business. The agreement with IAC also involves Proact supplying local support 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
IAC supplies interiors to the automotive industry. With offices all over the world and operating out of Torslanda, Skara and Färgelanda, the company manufactures parts such as instrument panels and door panels to Swedish car manufacturer Volvo.
IAC works with Just-In-Time deliveries to major car manufacturers, which allows the manufacturers themselves to work with small stock levels; instead, they need to receive the right products at the right times from their subcontractors. This demands short setup times and high uptime in the IAC IT infrastructure.
The Proact solution for storage consolidation will give IAC a more stable storage environment, greater access to their information and more uptime.
“The goods we supply are subject to some challenging requirements, and we need outstanding accessibility as far as our systems are concerned. Before, during and after implementation, Proact’s specialists have been both creative and flexible as regards our needs and the challenges we face,” says Johan Malmberg, head of IT, IAC Group in Sweden.
The solution includes primary storage and backup storage. It is scalable and can be expanded easily as the company’s needs grow. It also provides simple, quick backup management by means of snapshots of stored data, storing anything that has been changed. The contract also includes local support from Proact.
“IAC is active in an extremely exciting industry in which Proact has extensive experience of assisting businesses with IT infrastructure streamlining. The demands made of IAC in terms of implementation, security, accessibility and ongoing support are stringent, and these are precisely the areas in which Proact can add value. Parts of the IT infrastructure are based on the NetApp infrastructure, which in this instance was by far the best solution to meet IAC’s needs,” says Dan Mårtensson, regional manager, Proact.
