IBM Multimedia Backup Enclosure
With external LTO tape, RDX and DVD-RAM drive options

It offers SAS, USB, and FC interface drive options.
The enclosure delivers external tape, removable disk drive, and DVD-RAM drive options that allow data transfer within similar archival storage and retrieval technologies already installed in existing IT facilities. The 6190 offers a list of drive feature options.
Mandatory software
The enclosure is compatible with most System x servers.

SAS controller adapters and cables
A 3GB SAS HBA controller must be installed for each SAS tape drive or DVD-RAM feature installed in the 6190. At least one of the SAS external cables available on the 6190 must also be ordered.
USB adapter and cable
For each DVD-RAM USB sled and drive or RDX docking station feature installed in the 6190, the appropriate external USB cable will be included for attachment to a System x server. These features can be connected to the integrated USB ports on the system.
The DVD-RAM USB drive and the removable RDX HDD docking station features only support the USB cable that is provided as part of the feature number. Additional USB hubs, add-on USB cables, or USB cable extenders are not supported.
FC adapter and cable
The appropriate FC HBA Controller must be installed for each HH LTO tape drive feature installed in the 6190. An FC external cable must also be ordered.
For each tape drive, DVD-RAM drive sled, and RDX docking station feature installed in a 6190 storage enclosure, the appropriate external SAS, USB, or FC cable will be provided for attachment to an IBM System x server or IBM BladeCenter.
Power supply
There are no unique power supply requirements. The enclosure uses an autoranging power supply that is appropriate for all countries.
