Travel Insurance Company Seven Corners Deploys X-IO Technologies
After looking at EMC and NetApp
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 28, 2014 at 2:47 pmX-IO Technologies (Xiotech Corporation) has fixed the performance issues faced by Seven Corners, Inc., a premier travel insurance provider, within its VDI environment.
By implementing X-IO’s Intelligent Storage Element (ISE), Seven Corners has already increased VDI performance and eliminated system downtime.
Seven Corners provides travel insurance for businesses and individuals traveling to and from the US. Offering services such as emergency evacuation, and repatriation, the company has served hundreds of thousands of international travelers over the last 20 years. With a large customer support team dealing with emergencies 24/7, having access to mission critical data is vital.
Seven Corners’ legacy storage environment was reaching maximum capacity and was struggling to maintain a quality user experience with its VDI environment due to performance degradation, leading to loss of hosted desktop availability. The company turned to technology solutions provider, Mirazon Group, to help heal its VDI. After Seven Corners looked at a number of vendors, including EMC and NetApp, Mirazon chose their standard in performance and reliable storage, X-IO.
With a reputation for fixing VDI performance and reliability issues, ISE 200 series storage system offered performance, low TCO and a five-year warranty. Seven Corners implemented two ISE 230 arrays at each of its two data center sites to support DataCore’s software-defined storage management solution. Combined, the solution provides for a highly available, low-latency data center, with a DR plan leveraging replication between two sites.
“Our existing solution was causing major performance issues across the board. At peak times we were suffering outages that were creating boot storms,” explained Brian McCleskey, virtual operations manager, Seven Corners. “When we tested X-IO we were blown away by the technology as well as the TCO. The full solution cost less than a third of the equivalent platform from NetApp over five years.“
Gavin McLaughlin, VP, WW marketing, X-IO, said: “Since we launched our VDI Emergency Response program we are seeing a huge increase in the number of companies that need their VDI healed. We are a perfect fit for Seven Corners’ software-defined VDI environment. It offers 100% capacity utilization and the high performance demanded by heavy workloads. At X-IO, we have a proven track record of delivering consistently reliable, high-performance solutions that stand up to the demands of a VDI environment time after time.“
