Three New All Flash Arrays 6100 (17.5TB, 26TB and 35TB) Revealed by Violin Memory
$100,000 street price for 17.5TB
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 12, 2014 at 2:36 pmViolin Memory, Inc. announced availability of three new 6100 all flash array models and a flexible pricing model that breaks the $100,000 street price and enables customers to align their storage investment with capacity as it is consumed.
Leveraging a cost-optimized version of Violin’s Flash Fabric Architecture, and the latest generation of 19nm flash technology, the 6100 provide a best-in-class performance-to-cost ratio for mid-market/small enterprises and departmental level applications deployments in global enterprises.
For authorized resellers and their end-users, this offering addresses the need for all-flash storage solutions that meet the capacity requirements of smaller enterprise and mid-market business-critical applications with the 6100. In addition, the available capacity footprints allow end-users to buy for today’s needs and cost effectively expand as their application and business needs grow.
Violin’s pay-as-you-grow pricing model provides a software license-based capacity expansion option, delivering automatic scaling of capacity without having to order and install additional capacity ahead of real needs. This enables customers to more closely align CAPEX with the capacity utilized on the 6100 and 6200 series, while minimizing up-front capital investment. The pay-as-you-grow solutions scale in increments from 17TB to 35TB on the 6100 or 52TB to 70TB for the 6200 based on application and deployment requirements.
The 6100 product family designed for smaller enterprises and targeted applications within large and global enterprises start at 17.5TB and grow to 26TB or 35TB. This flexibility allows customers to control their capital expenditures to more closely match their application requirements. The new entry points address the market need for lower raw capacity all-flash offerings, while delivering enterprise resiliency and performance.
“Violin is reaching out to a broader customer and application set with the 6100 all flash arrays,” said Eric Herzog, CMO, Violin. “Smaller enterprises and more focused deployments within large and global enterprises can now benefit from Violin performance, density, and scalability without the upfront investments needed for larger environments.”

- 6600 for ultimate performance
- 6200 with the balance of performance and price, making it the data center workhorse
- New 6100 for easy-to-deploy mid-market requirements
