Acronis Disk Director 12 With Windows 8.1 and UEFI Support

Acronis International GmbH announced the release of Disk Director 12, the latest version of its disk management and data manipulation product.

It’s a product in the Acronis family of data management and backup solutions, and it leverages technical advances powered by the Acronis AnyData Engine.

This is the latest in the evolution of the company’s Disk Director family and reflects the company’s commitment to powering the data protection technology. It provides features to help computer users organize their HDDs for performance and protects users’ data via multiple volumes on a single drive. The AnyData engine ensures that users have the greatest flexibility and access to their data, regardless of which Windows version is in use.

The core library support was developed by Acronis Labs, the company’s $10 million R&D center launched by CEO Serguei Beloussov in 2013 and dedicated to producing data protection technologies. Users are armed with a set of tools to manage their information, with the ability to partition, format, manipulate, clone, install, share, convert, boot, span, merge, split, resize, copy and move data or disk partitions without losing anything. This enables users to divide their HDD drive into multiple partitions to maximize device usage efficiency.

Features include:

• Partition Management. To maximize disk use, users can merge, split, resize, copy, and move partitions without losing data. Users can also reorganize a HDD’s structure.

• Extended Windows support. Support for the latest versions of Windows (8 and 8.1), as well as earlier versions, including XP. Customers can also download and use the latest versions of Microsoft tools through the support of Windows Preinstallation Environment 5.0, and can access the latest Microsoft tools, like Windows Assessment or Deployment kits for Windows 8 or 8.1.

• Across-the-board PC support. Support for UEFI-based computers, extending support beyond BIOS-based PCs and ensuring full functionality regardless of PC type, which enables all Windows users to access Disk Director. Users can create bootable media (Linux-based or Windows PE-based) and boot into a recovery environment on a UEFI-based machine.

• Improved Recovery Capabilities with Recovery Expert tool included. In the event of a hardware or software failure, users can recover from a partition on the HDD or create a disk that can bring the system back. Recovery Expert is a tool that lets users recover volumes on a basic MBR disk that have been accidentally deleted or damaged.

It is currently available for an MSRP of $49.99; consumers with multiple devices can purchase a 3 PC pack (three licenses) for $79.99.

Disk Director 12 Advanced, designed for commercial workstations and servers, will be available over the summer. Customers purchasing Disk Director 11 Advanced will be entitled to a no-charge upgrade when available.
