Meritrust Credit Union Opts for Nimbus Data
Installs two all-flash arrays.
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on May 13, 2014 at 2:48 pmNimbus Data Systems, Inc. announced that Meritrust Credit Union has deployed two of its Gemini all-flash arrays (AFAs).
Looking for greater capacity and performance to support its mission-critical Oracle database, Meritrust augmented its conventional storage solution with Nimbus Data’s Gemini all-flash arrays, delivering significant performance improvements and greater capacity at a lower acquisition cost.
Headquartered in Wichita, KS, Meritrust is a not-for-profit financial institution that is locally owned by more than 75,000 members. Meritrust is recognized for helping its members reach their financial goals through expert guidance, service, quality financial products and innovative solutions.
While financial institutions are generally more risk-averse IT buyers, Meritrust knew the emerging flash memory solutions on the market would provide the necessary capacity and performance it sought. After considering its previous storage solution vendor’s offerings and other all-flash arrays, Meritrust chose Nimbus Data.
“Nimbus Data’s Gemini arrays gave us the boost in capacity and performance we needed. Furthermore, Nimbus Data was more cost-competitive than other all-flash systems by a significant margin,” said Cliff Shoff, director of IT, Meritrust. “Even after purchase, Nimbus Data continues to exceed our expectations, delivering unwavering uptime with minimal system administration on our end.”
While the Gemini all-flash array provided Meritrust with a reliable and well-performing storage environment, an added benefit was the system’s multi-protocol support and scale-out capabilities. As Meritrust had an existing 10GbE SAN infrastructure in place, Nimbus Data’s support of either block or file protocols made deployment of the arrays fast. Meritrust installed and configured both arrays-one for its primary site and another for its DR site-in less than four hours.
“Meritrust’s success with Nimbus Data, both on performance and cost, demonstrates how all-flash systems outperform even the most carefully tuned hybrid arrays in the market, while also offering a superior price point,” stated Thomas Isakovich, CEO and founder, Nimbus Data. “This successful customer installation points to the eroding, if not eliminated, cost discrepancy between hybrid and all-flash systems, which we expect to drive significant growth in all-flash array adoption for the next several years.”
