Avant Technology With 1TB and 2TB 6Gb SATA 2.5-inch SSDs

Avant Technology has shipped its 1TB and 2TB enterprise SSDs.

These drives merge the capacity of an HDD with the performance of an SSD to create a 2.5" drive. Enabling this capacity increase is the SATA bridge technology provided by IntelliProp Inc. in Longmont, CO.

Avant and IntelliProp will be showcasing this technology at the 2013 Flash Memory Summit.

"The Avant and IntelliProp teams have worked closely to integrate IntelliProp’s device with our drive design expertise to enable a family of high capacity SSD drives with excellent uncompressible data write performance. These drives set the stage for continued advancements in storage and Avant will be at the leading edge," said Paul Goodwin, Avant Technology CTO.

"IntelliProp is pleased and excited to be working with the Avant team on these programs. Our Hydra bridge technology provides Avant the capability of increasing their drive capacities by 2x or 4x and also increases their throughput and IO/s performance while minimizing the effects of write cliff. The high data throughput capability of our technology effectively makes the host’s SATA 6Gb interface the data bottleneck," said Larry Cleland, IntelliProp director sales and marketing.

These drives are for data centers and high performance workstations that have not been able to take advantage of SSD technology due to the requirements for higher capacity drives. The introduction of the 1TB and 2TB SSD brings the speed, durability, low temperature, and longevity of an SSD to new customers.
