Datto,
Inc. announced the launch of Datto
ALTO, an on- and off-site backup and DR solution for small
business owners.
SMBs are creating more data than ever
and the value of that data is increasing, but at the same time, so
are the risks of data loss. They have fewer resources to manage and
protect data. IDC research shows that at least 15% of SMBs have no
data backup system in place, putting them one hard drive failure away
from a business-ending event. Another 60% are only backing up on
local, onsite storage devices. If the device malfunctions, data will
be lost forever.
This BDR solution provides companies
with as few as one employee with a hybrid cloud platform for hybrid
virtualization of servers and workstations. By utilizing on- and
off-site backup, end users have a way to ensure their data is
recoverable regardless of any scenario. Data loss and IT downtime are
threats to the bottom line for businesses of all sizes and can result
in lost revenue, reputational damage, decreased customer
satisfaction, decreased productivity, IP property loss and supply
chain disruptions.
"We believe that every
business, of any size, is entitled to a robust solution to backup
their critical business data and insure themselves against costly
downtime and extended interruptions in BC," said Austin
McChord, CEO and founder of Datto. "We have built a
product that eliminates complex overhead for end users and adds an
unmatched level of service through our channel partners and our award
winning support team."
MSPs can make the
BDR investment easier for SMBs to manage financially with
ALTO. It is sold at various price points and is targeted to meet the
varying, unique needs of small businesses while delivering robust
functionality.
Image-based backup is not only the
backbone of the system but also adds usability in disaster scenarios.
Users don’t have to pick and choose what files are backed up or worry
about saving the most recent draft to a shared backup folder. In
addition to protecting files, entire systems are backed up and
virtualized so the applications and systems which keep a business
running stay active, helping business owners avoid the hassle of
securing temporary licenses for alternative machines. Users can spin
up virtualizations that are connected via VPN to their network
automatically. This allows small businesses to cut downtime and
employees can work without any special connections or software.
ALTO’s feature set includes:
- Image-based backup
- Hybrid virtualization
- Automatic backup testing via Screenshot
Backup Verification technology
- Bare metal restore technology to
perform system restores to dissimilar hardware
- Datto’s Inverse Chain technology
