He has over 25 years of experience in the technology industry focused primarily in the software and storage technology sectors. As a senior executive for EMC from 2002-2012, he served in multiple capacities including CTO, chief strategy officer, chief development officer, and EVP/GM of EMC Software. During his tenure as CDO/CTO, he formed EMC’s Technology Ventures Group, the EMC Innovation Network, opened new engineering centers of excellence in India and China, and led EMC’s security initiative. He helped to orchestrate over 31 acquisitions for EMC, transforming thr business model from a systems-focused provider to a primarily software and services-based company.
Lewis started his career at Digital Equipment Corporation and held a variety of engineering and management positions in the storage division. He ultimately became the VP and GM of the storage division at Compaq Computer, leading the world’s 2nd largest storage organization behind EMC.
He holds eight U.S. patents in storage technology.
He currently serves on the boards of Riverbed Systems and Contrail Systems and is the co-founder of TekRocket LLC, an angel investing, incubation, and strategic consulting firm.
Lewis graduated from the University of Colorado, Boulder with a B.S. in Mechanical Engineering.
