Bocada Teams With Quest
To provide operational analysis for Netvault backup
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on September 21, 2012 at 3:10 pmBocada Inc., provider of data protection management software and the creator
of the Data Protection
Service Management (DPSM) model, announced that it has teamed with Quest Software Inc. to support Quest
NetVault Backup, the cross platform backup and recovery solution for physical
and virtual environments, in order to provide customers visibility,
troubleshooting, capacity planning and SLA management to improve data
protection operations.
NetVault Backup helps simplify DR across physical
and virtual environments, with a focus on ensuring availability of applications
and databases such as Oracle, SQL Server, Exchange, SharePoint and Domino.
Quest and Bocada share the philosophy that IT organisations must shift
from an infrastructure-centric view of backup and recovery to a
services-centric view, focusing on protecting applications and databases,
regardless of whether they reside in physical, virtual or cloud environments.
Bocada created the Data Protection Service Management model and their DPSM
solutions based on this model, which focuses on managing to SLAs, making the Bocada
vpConnect Service Management solution a complement to NetVault.
Bocada vpConnect is an
integrated data protection service management solution for managing physical
and virtual environments, bridging the gap between physical and virtual data
protection operations. Bocada has integrated its agentless Prism solution,
which provides backup and recovery health and capacity reporting,
policy analysis and SLA management for physical environments, with the recently
released Bocada Vision solution for virtual environments.
Vision helps ensure VM recoverability by providing visibility and analysis into VM snapshot and backup activity. It shows
users what resources are being used to protect VMs and whether they are
optimised while detailing the performance impact of protecting VMs.
In conjunction with the latest 7.10 platform release, vpConnect provides analysis, troubleshooting and SLA management for NetVault
Backup, providing a centralised view of all data protection activities across
virtual and physical environments. Customers using NetVault for physical backup
only can implement Bocada Prism; when they move to protecting virtual servers
with their NetVault solution a simple license key change turns on the virtual
reporting functionality of vpConnect without any additional changes to the
environment.
"We are happy to work
with Bocada to leverage their knowledge and experience in data protection
service management to provide comprehensive analysis for our NetVault Backup
solution that will greatly benefit our customers," said John Maxwell,
VP data protection product management at Quest. "Quest recognises that Bocada provides a leading management application
with a strong focus on DPSM for virtual and physical environments. After
teaming up with Bocada with their Vision solution for vRanger, we are confident
our NetVault customers will greatly benefit from the enhanced reporting and
analysis that vpConnect provides."
