Yosemite Provides CDP to Tandberg
For the RDX QuikStor removable HDD
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 26, 2008 at 3:54 pmYosemite Technologies, Inc. announced a partnership with Tandberg Data, through which Yosemite has created a custom solution which incorporates its easy-to-use user file continuous data protection (CDP) software for PCs with its bare metal disaster recover (DR) technology. The custom solution will be integrated into Tandberg Data’s RDX QuikStor product line and sold by Tandberg Data as RDX FileKeeper. The flexibility inherent in Yosemite’s organization and product-line were essential in this partnership with Tandberg Data, and underscores Yosemite’s strength as an OEM supplier.
The RDX QuikStor, which is ideal for the SMB market, combines the benefits of tape — reliability, portability, archive life, and low cost — with the performance, speed, random access, and ease of use of hard disk technology. Tandberg Data’s RDX FileKeeper is an easy-to-use software solution for the RDX QuikStor that provides transparent, ‘always-on’ continuous protection of user data and a complete backup of all system and application data. It can be configured for only System Backup, only continuous backup of user files or both (which is default).
"We were looking for a partner with the flexibility to provide us with a unique solution that would serve as the perfect compliment to our RDX QuikStor," said Bharat Kumar, vice president of marketing and development at Tandberg Data. "By working with Yosemite, we have identified that partner and can now offer customers continuous data protection and bare metal disaster recovery that match our requirements of reliability and ease-of-use, qualities RDX QuikStor customers have come to expect."
Yosemite prides itself on meeting the needs of its partners by being a flexible OEM supplier with the ability to provide private labelled solutions such as RDX FileKeeper using the Tandberg brand, and custom solutions and user interfaces leveraging the Yosemite SDK and APIs in the products. This flexibility enables Yosemite to create custom solutions from a single product or by combining aspects of multiple products.
"It’s extremely satisfying to have a global data protection leader such as Tandberg Data select our team to work with and our software to include in their product offering," said George Symons, CEO, Yosemite Technologies. "Tandberg Data’s RDX QuikStor was already a proven, leading-edge storage system perfect for SMBs. Now with the addition of our software, which provides transparent continuous file protection and bare metal DR to the RDX offering, Tandberg Data has an even more flexible and complete solution for ensuring that its customers data is always protected."
The RDX FileKeeper software will be bundled with all RDX QuikStor drive kits and will be available through Tandberg Data’s established channel of distribution and reseller partners in September ’08. Additionally, Yosemite will offer add-on modules for Microsoft SQL and Exchange protection, which will be sold through Yosemite and its joint distribution and channel partners with Tandberg in September ’08. Pricing for the add-on modules start at $189.
