Elan Launches New USB 2.0 Host Controller for Embedded Applications
Designed to be configured as a standard USB 2.0 host controller bridge to 16 bit u controller bus

The new device, the VMB5000AE, is designed to be configured as a standard USB 2.0 host controller bridge to 16 bit u controller bus.
This device is particularly suitable for applications using low cost u controllers not providing native USB support. Typical applications include POS equipment, telemetry and smart metering equipment.
Features include low power consumption, typically 12mA operating and 120uA in sleep mode. The device is in a small size 64 VQFN package and has integrated EEPROM write-protected memory space for utility/ security storage. It is WHQL qualified, with Linux, Mac and CE drivers, and is available now from Elan Digital Systems.
