Tom Mitchell’s Fabrinet Files Registration for an IPO

Fabrinet
announced has filed a registration statement with the
Securities and Exchange Commission for a proposed initial public
offering of its ordinary shares. The offering will include ordinary
shares sold by Fabrinet and by certain of its shareholders.

The number
of ordinary shares to be offered and the price range for the offering
have not yet been determined.
Morgan Stanley & Co.
International plc and Deutsche Bank Securities Inc. will act as lead
managers for the offering.

A registration statement relating to these
securities has been filed with the Securities and Exchange Commission,
but has not yet become effective. These securities may not be sold nor
may offers to buy these securities be accepted prior to the time the
registration statement becomes effective.

Do you remember Tom Mitchell, the controversial companion of Al Shugart and Finis Conner at Seagate Technology? He co-founded Seagate in 1979 and served as served as its president from 1983 to 1991, where he established manufacturing operations in Singapore, Thailand, Malaysia, the PRC and India.

Since seven years, he is the president, chairman and CEO of Fabrinet. In his company you also find executives coming from Hitachi GST, IBM, Magnecomp, Maxtor, Read-Rite and Seagate.

Fabrinet began operations in January, 2000 by acquiring a 21,550 square-meter facility from Seagate Technology in Bangkok, Thailand and is now mainly a manufacturer of optical communications components and modules
