This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on April 25, 2016 at 2:59 pmSymply, Inc., the start-up in high-performance storage for media and creative professionals, unveiled its first product series, SymplyStor desktop RAID and SymplyShare for Thunderbolt and IP-connected workgroups.
SymplyStor desktop RAID delivers high-performance, easy-to-use storage with fast throughput and low latency for demanding 4K and HD video production. Depending on performance needs, it supports configurations in a choice of SSD or HDDs to provide capacities up to 64TB.
It supports Thunderbolt 2 for throughput at 20Gb/s, and Thunderbolt 3 for throughput at 40Gb/s. When docked in a SymplyShare base, SymplyStor operates seamlessly with SymplyStor Expansion managed as a single RAID, up to a 120TB capacity and provides ‘plug-and-go’ collaboration for up to 8 users.
Powered by Quantum StorNext 5 and 100% Xsan compatible, SymplyStor management software provides a simple 5-step setup, and intuitive monitoring apps native on Mac OS X, Windows, on iOS for iPhone and iPad, and even watchOS.
“Symply products are really designed for creative professionals,” explained Alex Grossman, CEO, Symply. “SymplyStor and SymplyPro show what’s possible when you view storage in such a way that the perspective of the creative is always kept front and center; and the best technology with highest performance, highest throughput and easiest management tools are all brought together to let creatives stay focused on production. Production is hard enough – storage really shouldn’t be.”
In addition, Symply provided a technology preview of SymplyPro, powered by StorNext 5, for workgroups and facilities. The SymplyPro design provides facility-level collaboration for large workgroups, optimized for 4K and 8K, with scale to 1PB of shared storage, an innovative front panel communications system, on a foundation of Promise Technology, Inc.‘s RAID technology. The technology preview also shows how SymplyPro is designed to support up to 20 high-speed FC clients in any combination of Apple Xsan, Windows or Linux clients, and additional IP-connected clients.
Designed by Symply, Inc., production of SymplyStor and SymplyPro x is in partnership with Promise.
SymplyStor desktop RAID is demonstrated at NAB Show 2016, and will be available for pre-order starting at $1,999.
SymplyStor is expected to ship July 2016.
