Spanning Cloud Apps Expands Backup and Recovery to Salesforce.com
Daily backup, chatter integration, point in time recovery

The solution will debut at Dreamforce 2013 with the release slated for the first quarter of 2014.
The product offering for Salesforce.com represents the first step in the company’s product line expansion plans to provide backup and recovery of data in the top cloud-based business applications.
“Spanning is focused on providing backup and recovery solutions for the most significant cloud applications. As the titan of enterprise cloud computing apps, Salesforce is a logical next step for us,” said Jeff Erramouspe, CEO and president, Spanning. “Salesforce is storing unfathomably large amounts of critical data – our backup and recovery solution ensures organizations are now fully protected from data mishaps and losses.”
It will be the first and only backup solution embedded in the Salesforce user interface, allowing users to review their backup and recovery information in-app without having to leave Salesforce. Additionally, this integration allows it to share backup and recovery activities into the Chatter newsfeeds.

Salesforce manages the corporate data, including customer details, sales, marketing and financials, for more than 100,000 organizations. With this solution providing daily backups, customers have a way to protect critical data, files and customizations. Additionally, the solution allows users to recover lost data from any previous backup.
Capabilities include:
- Automated daily backups: Improves backup reliability and reduces the time it takes administrators to manage the backup process.
- Point-in-time data recovery: Simplifies the recovery of lost data making it easier to find previous versions of data.
- Chatter feeds for backup activity: Allows administrators to follow backup and recovery activities in Chatter newsfeeds.
- Status and change visibility: Monitors and resolves backup errors with visibility into backup status and configuration changes.

It is available in private beta. The product will be available and sold on a per-user, per-year subscription in the first quarter 2014.
