Former VP of NAND development at Micron
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on August 8, 2012 at 2:45 pmSkyera Inc. continued building its executive team with the addition of former VP and GM of OEM Division, NAND Solutions Group at Micron Technology Frankie Roohparvar as its COO.
He brings nearly 30 years of industry experience to Skyera. For the last 13 years at Micron he served in various senior engineering and executive positions in flash memory and NAND development, ultimately responsible for design centers in California, Colorado, Japan, Italy and China for the $7.5 billion company.
Prior to that, Roohparvar was one of the founders of Micron Quantum Devices, an early provider of NOR flash memory that was acquired by Micron. He started his career in non-volatile he at Xicor where he served as design engineering manager.
"Having been involved with NAND from the early days of its adoption in solid-state storage, I was in a unique position to watch how NAND worked its way into the SSS field," said Roohparvar. "Seeing the huge potential for disruption that Skyera’s technology is introducing, I wanted to get on the ground floor of this innovation revolution."
Roohparvar is a member of the board of directors at Link_A_Media Devices, in developing and manufacturing custom Soc solutions for peripheral data storage devices, including HDDs and SSDs.
He holds MBAs from the Columbia Business School and the Walter A. Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley, as well as a MS in Electrical Engineering at Santa Clara University and a BS in Computer Engineering from Iowa State University.
