Together, the solutions provide an archive storage solution that offers large, long-term, reliable and cost-effective archives for markets that consume large data volumes.

Verticals like media and entertainment, research, oil and gas, finance and web/Internet content providers use applications that quickly fill up primary storage. The solution is to move lesser-used assets to archive storage, where it remains easily accessible. With this in mind, Sony and ASG have created a solution that provides an open, centrally managed and secure archive to address growth in data volumes, and long-term retention requirements across vertical applications.

Unlike traditional LTO-based solutions, the Optical Disc Archive technology, powered by ADA software, delivers a fast and constant access time to archived content. In addition, the continual, guaranteed retrieve-time for content from ADA archives on ODA allows performant, agile archive infrastructures to be designed that are still cost-efficient in their capacity to offer unlimited, store-as-you-go, petabyte-range storage.

We are pleased to integrate ASG-Digital Archive software into Sony’s Optical Disc Archive to achieve an abundance of capabilities for a diverse range of verticals which are dependent upon reliable and ample storage solutions,” said Alan Gagliardotto, product marketing manager for Optical Disc Archive, Sony. “Having the ability to safely and easily access large amounts of content is key to our customers, and they are assured knowing they are dealing with two of the most trusted names in the business.

For verticals like media and entertainment in which digital assets are constantly evolving, an integration of ASG-Digital Archive and Sony’s Optical Disc Archive is ideal for the creation of both a scalable performant archive, and a long term archive in an existing storage environment,” said Robert Overzee, product marketing manager, ASG Software Solutions. “Companies can now cost-effectively manage a variety of workloads and large data volumes, sidestep the limitations of other media storage products, and gain peace of mind knowing that projects are both securely archived and readily-available when project requirements evolve.

The ODA platform is fully supported by a range of accessories and solutions. The Optical Disc Archive with ADA solution will fit into field-to-post workflows with Catalyst Prepare, Catalyst Browse, and Cloud Ci.

ODA’s scalable robotic library fills an gap in the media archive marketplace. The system is positioned as a tapeless high capacity digital archive system suitable for both nearline and deep archive applications. Additionally, the technology is suited for a range of storage applications that include sports production, editorial, mezzanine level video and digital media preservation.
