Sans Digital AccuRAID AccuSTOR Redesigned

Sans Digital is introducing a re-designed line of enterprise rackmount storage solution in three different form factors: 2U-12 bay, 3U-16 bay and 4U-24 bay.



All models utilize a backplane solution to ensure signal integrity along with hot-swappable redundant power supplies and cooling fans standard without additional cost.

Both single and redundant controller options are available with two different high speed interfaces, dual channel 6Gb SAS or quad channel FC 8Gb (FC available in AccuRAID series only.)

The AccuRAID series comes with RAID controller built-in while the AccuSTOR relies on external RAID controller or OS for additional RAID functionality. Both are enterprise performance rackmounts with HA features designed to meet the demanding IT storage applications.

Both design allows customers to start with a single controller offering dual channel SAS or quad channel 8Gb FC port interface along with capability to be upgraded to redundant controller setup at a later time. The AccuRAID and AccuStor redundant controller versions (AR212/316/424/X6(R) & AR212/316/424/F8(R) is active-active data storage solution. The controllers work separately; however, in the unlikely event of a controller failure the remaining controller automatically switches over. The remaining controller takes control with no data or connectivity lost between the storage enclosure and the host computer(s). Once a working RAID controller is swapped in for the failed controller, the system rebalances automatically and returns to redundant operation state providing the customer with continuous operation and zero down time.

Both models are capable of expanding its storage capacity by adding up to six additional JBOD expansion units (AS316X6/R), offering up to a total of 112 drives or 336TB raw capacity (supporting both 2.5" and 3.5" 6G SATA or SAS HDD) in a single setup. All AccuRAID models support hardware RAID including RAID-1, -5, -6, -10, -50 and -60 data protection against potential hard drives failures.

Utilizing the 6Gb SAS interface, the AccuRAID AR212/316/424/X6 and AccuSTOR AS212/316/424/X6 are designed to provide the fast data transfer rate between the host computer and its DAS. Each controller provides dual channels of 6Gb SAS SFF8088 interface offering high bandwidth interface with fast data transfer rate along with support for clustering application and storage fail-over.

The AccuRAID AR212/313/424/F8, on the other hand, is designed to be used in a FC SAN. The  series FC interface models are for HD video in a collaborative effort video editing environment. The single controller models provides quad 8Gb FC interface while the redundant controller models provide 8 x 8Gb FC. FC provides all the benefits of the DAS, and it can also be used as a centralized storage for multiple servers in a FC SAN or virtualization environments such as VMware, Microsoft Hyper-V and Citrix XGen Server for HA server computing and DR application.

Note: The use of SATA HDD drive with dual-controller storage model requires the use of 6Gb Bridgeboard for each SATA HDD used.
