Software Allowing Archiving of Linux/Unix NFS Data Into Symantec Enterprise Vault

Vault Solutions, LLC, in specialized solutions and enhancements for Symantec's Enterprise Vault, is announcing the release of its Archive Accelerator for NFS product.



This software solution allows Unix/Linux based data to be managed by Enterprise Vault.

"Until now, Enterprise Vault customers could not archive their NFS data with Enterprise Vault. Now, data can be archived for eDiscovery purposes and storage savings," said David Ouellette, president and founder of Vault Solutions.

Archive Accelerator for NFS Archiving can be used to archive data stored on NFS accessible storage devices, such as NetApp filers, and to move it to lower cost storage connected to Enterprise Vault archiving servers.

A feature of the solution is the ability to replace the original content with shortcuts (symbolic links) to the content archived in Enterprise Vault. Clients can retrieve the content via the symboloc links which retrieves a copy of the content from Enterprise Vault.

If NetBackup is in use with Enterprise Vault, the solution can retrieve the content from tape or other storage media without any intervention on the part of the user. No software needs to be installed on the client computers.
