- Standardization
- Documentation
- Training
Overview
IBM Storage Optimization and Integration Services — Process excellence is designed to gain control of complex storage and backup environments by applying compiled industry best practices to your specific needs and environment. This service includes a set of standardized processes for storage and backup that is distributed to operations staff through a Web portal. This service consists of the development of customized procedural documentation consisting of 46 essential storage and backup operational processes.
Each operational process is joined with step-by-step technical instructions on how to execute the process. The service consists of installing and customizing a library of storage and backup best practices based on NovusCG’s Enterprise Standardization Program (ESP).
The service provides:
- Analysis of your existing processes and workflows
- Customization and development of ESP process guides incorporated with toolset-specific commands and procedures
- Process implementation including: Training – Integration into operations – Development of process maintenance owners and procedures
Upon completion of the service engagement you can realize:
- Improved service levels and reduction of errors through standardized operations based on industry best practices
- Savings through decreased cost per managed terabyte through improved operational efficiency
- Risk mitigation associated with inevitable operational audits
- Improved utilization of staff as standardized documentation enables junior staff to perform the more routine tasks while reassigning senior staff to more strategic efforts
- Risk mitigation in the case of unplanned outages
- Standardization of process and procedure so staff understands how to properly execute operational functions that may have been handled previously by others
- General reduction in on-boarding and training costs through concise documentation of processes regardless of the underlying toolset
