Mercury to Deliver SSD Recorder
This is a Press Release edited by StorageNewsletter.com on Fri, May 25th, 2012
For airborne ISR applications
"Our customer needed a
technology upgrade that could manage the greatly expanded data streams
generated by a new generation of sensors," said Didier Thibaud, SVP and GM of Mercury Computer Systems' Advanced Computing Solutions business
unit. "We were selected because we
were able to provide a rapid prototype solution they could use to enhance their
application. Our Services and Systems Integration team engaged closely
with the customer's engineers to clearly understand the parameters of the
problem, then designed an optimal solution based on industry standards."
The Mercury solution combines the density capacity Digital
Storage Unit with a controller function built to the 3U OpenVPX standard.
The DSU uses an array of commercially available SSD components configured
within a compact, rugged, deployable enclosure, while the controller supports
flexible protocol conversions as part of the data recording process.
