... And LSI

For VM caching solution with PCIe Nytro WarpDrive SSD cards
Proximal Data, Inc. is collaborating with LSI Corporation to combine Proximal Data's AutoCache software with PCIe flash-based LSI Nytro WarpDrive application acceleration cards.
The solution is designed to provide enterprises with an economical solution for solving disk I/O bottleneck problems and increasing the number of VMs supported within their existing VMware ESXi environments by up to three times.
"The combination of AutoCache with LSI Nytro WarpDrive cards addresses a common issue that dynamic workloads present to virtualized servers, mainly that the total-cost-of-ownership benefits of virtualization are throttled by disk access," said Rory Bolt, CEO of Proximal Data. "Our combined solution enables higher levels of server virtualization optimization and reduces the latency that causes I/O bottlenecks. The result is dramatically improved virtual machine density and performance."
"Together, Proximal Data's AutoCache software and LSI's Nytro WarpDrive acceleration cards help to remove disk I/O bottlenecks and increase VM density and performance," said Brent Blanchard, director, worldwide channel sales and marketing, LSI. "The solution offers a more affordable option than other methods of solving I/O bottlenecks in VMware environments because it enables IT administrators to optimize existing server and storage resources."
AutoCache virtual cache software provides adaptive caching, which is a set of adaptive algorithms for caching dynamic workloads that are common in virtualized environments. It places hot data on the Nytro WarpDrive card's onboard flash within VMware ESXi environments to help deliver greater VM density and high level of performance, endurance and reliability under the demanding conditions. Unlike standalone storage enclosures, the Nytro WarpDrive card plugs into a standard PCIe slot on a physical server.
AutoCache software installs into the hypervisor without requiring any agents for guest OS or changes to IT operations and can be managed within VMware vCenter and vSphere.
