Computerlinks Partners With NextIO

In the UK and Ireland

Computerlinks (UK) Ltd , distributor of IT security and Internet technology solutions, announced an agreement in the UK and Ireland with NextIO, Inc., in I/O consolidation and virtualisation.

The agreement will allow Computerlinks resellers to add a new offering to their data centre solutions that delivers value, as it makes the I/O infrastructure easier to manage, has built-in scalability and can reduce CapEx by up to 40% and OpEx by 60%.

Computerlinks' decision to partner with NextIO is the latest stage in the development of the distributor's Next Generation Data Centre channel proposition. As data centre administration becomes more sophisticated and more virtual servers are deployed, administrators have to deal with new server I/O resource challenges. In addition, new technologies such as 10GbE, FCoE, server blades, virtualisation and cloud computing mean that resellers have to be equipped with the tools to help their clients overcome these challenges.

"Today's data centres are extremely complex environments to manage," said David Ellis, director of new technology and services at Computerlinks. "Administrators need technologies that can simplify the deployment and management of complex I/O to meet the changing demands of modern organisations. This agreement will help our resellers to grow their businesses around the increasingly diverse needs of data centre managers and administrators. The cost savings and ease of management are clearly visible, making this a really disruptive technology and exciting opportunity for the channel."

NextIO's vision of any-to-any connectivity is achieved through the three NextIO v-series solutions: vNET I/O consolidation and virtualisation appliances, vCORE GPU consolidation products and vSTOR I/O acceleration appliances.

These solutions are designed to:

  • Optimise rack server and I/O density
  • Reduce OpEx and CapEx by lowering acquisition costs and management overheads
  • Provide customer choice in server configurations without vendor lock-in
  • Reduce complexity in multi-fabric data centres
  • Increases I/O flexibility in VMware environments by providing on-demand I/O resources

Mike Heumann, SVP, global sales and marketing at NextIO said: "Our solutions keep virtualisation efficient by simplifying server I/O in the datacentre. Having COMPUTERLINKS and their partners as part of our channel team will enable even more organisations to achieve cost-effective operational efficiencies and deliver greater data centre flexibility and business agility."
